Cannot Edit transaction

Postby sparkiemark » Tue Mar 04, 2014 9:53 pm

I have encountered an unbelievably annoying bug, and have no idea what triggers it, except that after editing a couple transactions in an account, the next record become uneditable and no matter how many times I highlight the record, click Edit, type in my edits, click Enter, none of my changes get saved and the transaction remains as is.

Here is the use case:

I edit a transaction and all is fine.
I highlight the next transaction I wish to edit.
I click Edit. The Transaction looks like it will accept edits.
I observe that the Amount field does not contain the correct amount that the transaction should have, but has the amount that the previous transaction that I just edited and saved has. Weird.
I click Enter or Cancel (doesn't matter), and the transaction goes back to the way it was before with the correct amount in the Amount field.
***** It is like the focus of the Edit is still on the previous transaction that I had just edited *****
I cannot for the life of me figure this out and have to exit MyMoney and re-open to get the transaction to edit properly. Once again after a few transaction edits, I run into the same problem.

This is brutal, and destroys my productivity.

I am using OS-X Mavericks MyMoney 2.0.87

Is this a known defect with a workaround or fix? I need to get this ASAP.

I would appreciate any help on this matter.

Hello,

No, it is not a known bug at this time

Did this just start happening recently ?

Thanks

I never really had an issue when I was using the demo "Free" version, but have noticed it since the beginning after purchasing a copy. I was not using it that much, until the last month (tax season). Been getting by with it for most of the past week, but productivity is crap. Brutal bug. Don't really know how to describe any better than the use case I described above. There does not seem to be any reason for it happening. If I close out and come in fresh, I am good for one or two transactions. After that, it appears the focus of the "Amount" field, is still stuck on the "Amount" of my previously edited transaction. I <Cancel>, and the "Amount" is the correct value, but once I click <Edit>, the previously edited transaction's "Amount" value is in my current transaction edit. Nothing I type into these fields can be saved.

It is like there is a failed commit in the backend and the transaction edit is still active, even though I have clicked <Enter> and moved on to another transaction. If I F**K around and open the previous edit and retype in the amount, or the Payee, and re-save, the transaction sometimes commits properly and I can proceed, but it is a big pain in the a$$ to have to do this all the time. And even then, it doen't work all the time.

I just can't figure out a pattern here.

We will try to see if we can reproduce this, we will keep you posted

We also have a new version in development with accumulated bug fixes, we can give you an early preview to see if that makes a difference

Will be much appreciated.

Still cannot figure out a pattern.

I just exit Money and re-open. Much faster than just trying to guess the fix.

Cheers,

We reproduced this issue - this was actually quite difficult to pinpoint but at some point we noticed transaction state not being persisted properly under certain conditions on a Mac

We are working on a fix, should be ready shortly

Thank you

Hello,

If it helps, I have had this problem too. On various versions of My Money, (now on 2.0.89) and various versions of Mac, (now on 10.9.5) My work around has to be either persistent, as My Money will eventually accept the edit. Or close My Money and then edit.

I am glad to see that My Monay Admin. have replicated this problem.

As am I. I realized that persistence seemed to be a workaround, but inattention can produce bad results if not caught right away. Is the fix ready yet and can we receive a download even if our one year upgrade support has run out?

Just downloaded and installed the latest version, but my licensing has expired and the message says to request a License Extension? How do I go about this?
