Backup problems

Postby Lucie » Sat Jun 28, 2014 10:52 am

Hi,

I have just started using MyMoney and I have some backup problems. I have read "http://wiki.mthbuilt.com/Back_up_your_Money_file" but still do not understand why it does not work.

When I try to maintain data (maintain data -> backup database), a zip file is created, but when I open it, it seems that no data have been saved (at least they are not displayed).

I tried to use automatic backups instead (copying and renaming them), but the result is the same.

I then untickled "backup data on exit" to see what happened: no zip file created, but the data is restored anyway when I restart MyMoney.

How could I do to save several versions of a file, not only the last one?

Thanks,

Lucie

Hello,

When you unzip the backup file you should see that it contains a sub-folder called 'moneydb' - this where data is actually kept. You will not be able to see the data in applications other than MyMoney.

Once unzipped simply start MyMoney, point it to the location of 'moneydb' through 'File-Open-Open File' menu and you should be able to use that data

Thanks

Hello,

I have tried to do so, but I get the message "Database has not been opened properly or it is possibly corrupted".

I have found messages saying it could be a conflict between different versions of MyMoney, but I have not tried any other version (I am using 2.0.88). Do you know where it could come from?

Thanks,

Lucie

Does that happen after every backup that you take or its a one specific backup zip file?

Thanks

Yes, it happens after every backup (whatever the path I choose to save the data).

Thanks,
