Database has been locked up by another program

I just got the above error when I tried to open MyMoney
The only other program running at the time was Apple's iMovie.
I can't believe I am locked out. What would do that and how can I break the lock.

Thank you.

You may have another copy of My Money already running in the background.

Please try this, if on on a Mac please run Activity Monitor (Task Manager on Windows, top on Linux), please select already running copy of My Money and either bring it into foreground or terminate it

When I ran Activity Monitor there was a copy of MyMoney running.
I terminated as per instructions but the database is still locked.
Is there a file that I can restore from my backup that will replace the one that is locked.
I believe this happened when I updated to 2.0.36 from 2.0.35.
Thank you again.

Restarted MAC
Restarted MyMoney
Same result: Database locked up by another program.
I ran a repair permissions and was given this error msg. I don't know if it has anything to do with the problem but here it is:

Warning: SUID file "System/Libary/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/OwnerGroupTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.

Thank you.

No, these messages are bening according to Apple, here is the link

You most likely have data corruption on one of the tables, there could be any number of reasons, disk write failure, bad sector, etc

Is there an exception stack trace ? Also, if you create a new database you can write into it with no issues ?

I don't know what an "exception stack trace" is or where to find it.

I was able to open a new account, and enter debit and credit amounts.

This is not a good sign. If I can lose one database, what will prevent me from losing two or more.

We are in final stages of testing backup solution for My Money, it would take a full backup of your data every time you exit the program.
We suggest to keep the backup data separately, for example on a memory stick, so even when there are cases of hard disk failures or
data corruption one would have the most recent data snapshot.

We plan on releasing this in 2 to 4 weeks, we will accelerate the testing given that this is becoming high priority for us and our customers.

Obviously a good idea.
