Transactions split

Postby a1screen » Thu Feb 10, 2011 5:45 pm

In my business, sales are either retail or wholesale. The retail deposits consists of total, plus sales tax. When I make a deposit, I split the transaction to show retail & sales tax. In doing so I see the words multiple payees. I cannot now see who the payee was at a later date in my register or retail catagory. Am I doing something wrong & can this be fix.

Hello,

This happens because MyMoney doesn't assign weight to the payees, i.e. there is no facility to tell that one of the payees is primary and the other one is secondary in a split transaction. If the payees are different then MyMoney will simply show [multiple payees] as a combined payee in a split transaction,

If you need to see a single payee but still be able to track the tax portion of the transaction they you could try to assign it to a different category, i.e. have a single payee with different categories, if that makes sense for your business workflow

Regardless how you enter the split, your reports will correctly track the payees and categories. You can also run Quick History from the Lists Manager against a given payee to quickly determine the totals

Thanks,

All comparative reports operate on a month per month basis; you can extend the date ranges in Custom reports but they will still show month information. To aggregate data into quarters and compare it against each other per year basis you can export your report into a csv or xls file and analyze it outside of MyMoney, for example Excel has pivoting functionality where you can stack data from columns into rows and have them compared.

This is a suggestion, not a recommendation or an endorsement
