Broken Mac causes MyMoney problems!

Hi,

My Mac developed fault a couple of weeks ago. I was running Money 2.0.86 on it. Luckily I'd made a backup, so while my Mac was being fixed a downloaded the trial version of MyMoney onto a Windows laptop to keep my records up to date.

My Mac is now fixed and I have restored MyMoney which opens with my 2 weeks old records no problem. When I try to open the Backup a made on my WIndows Laptop I get the message "Database has not been opened properly or it is possibly corrupted". I have tried going back to the Windows laptop and creating another backup but this results in the same error message.

Is it due to a compatibility issue with the Windows and Mac files, or perhaps because the Windows version is a newer version of MyMoney? I'd rather not have to pay again to get this resolved. Is there another way, perhaps by exporting a QIF file from the Windows version and importing on my Mac?

Thanksa

Hello,

This is because of version discrepancy between MyMoney installed on a Mac and on Windows

Earlier versions of MyMoney can not open databases created with later versions, for example database created with version 2.0.87 will not be openable by MyMoney version 2.0.60

The opposite use case is fine, when detected older database will be automatically upgraded to newer versions

It is an easy fix - please use the same version of MyMoney in both environments, your license is valid for all computers in the household

Thanks,

Hi.

I'm not sure if this will be a solution for me. My Mac was dead at the time along with the 2.0.86 version of MyMoney so I had no access to my license code and was unsure which version I had or where I could download the older version. I have therefore already done a couple of weeks records by using the trial download from the site. Presumably even if I knew how to find the appropriate files on my Mac and transfer them to my Windows laptop I would still have the same problem, because the work I have done over the past 2 weeks will not open on version 2.0.86 on any system?

I'm worried that I will have to retype my many entries again into the old software. Of course the other option would be to just stop being such a cheapskate and buy the software for a second time!

Any thoughts?

Many thanks
