My bad, I just realized that when I ran those commands above some backslashes copied into the condole and screwed up the command. I re-ran the commands successfully.
I also ran the two commands you suggested and got this...
1) /Users/xxx/Documents/xxx/yemon/MyMoney/CustomReports
2)

Added the additional .jar files from the linked Java folder:
"Once mth_derby.jar is added please click on Add Jar again, navigate to the Java linked folder, select all (you can press Control-A or Command-A) and add everything to the classpath
You classpath screen should look like the following:"
My Classpath screen looks very similar to the screenshot you have provided.
However, when I attempt to connect, I leave the username and password fields blank, click test, wait a few seconds and I get prompted for a password. I click <ok>, <cancel>, red close button, but the result is the same - a few seconds later I get the Exception:
"SQL problems: Failed to start database '/Users/sparkie/Documents/Dropbox/yemon/MyMoney/moneyDB' with class loader com.jaspersoft.ireport.designer.ReportClassLoader@101fcae3, see the next"
blah, blah, blah...
What next?
