Unable to back up

I would like to back up/save upon exiting to my external drive. Can you tell me how to get to that path? I continue to receive the same Error has occurred message (Unable to save user preferences).

Please help. I've lost my data and took me a few hours to retrieve it and I'm afraid to close the program again unless I figure out how to save it.

Hello,

You need to check a box in app preferences and specify a valid folder to backup on exit, please take a look at this article on our wiki

Please note that the folder should exist at the time of backup, for example if you are backing up on a flash drive and it dismounted for some reason then MyMoney will not be able to backup the data, it wouldn't know where. You would need to specify the folder again in this case,
