MyMoney Product Roadmap for 2011

Postby mthadm » Tue Oct 26, 2010 11:07 pm

We are finalizing the feature set for MyMoney for 2011. The biggest change is a new WebApp, which will be compatible with the regular, desktop version of MyMoney and will offer super-easy sharing, real-time-collaboration, RSS feeds, etc. We are planning to have a capability where the users can upload their databases to the web when online access is needed and download them back to the desktop in a full off line mode.

We are open for other suggestions, ideas and feedback, you can either send us an email at info@mthbuilt.com or post it right here at the forum.

Thanks,

Hi,

I would vote for improving reports, particularly balance sheet reports to show true account balances on whatever date the user selects. Balance reports currently show only the sum of all the transactions for the selected range of dates, payees and categories in the selected accounts. Balances at two or more different times such as beginning and end of accounting period would also be nice.

It would also be nice to have named groups of accounts, categories, and payees so the user can set up arbitrary sets that are used repeatedly. This might be different groups for reports with different focus, such as reports to show lenders, reports to focus on school expenses, or whatever.

Could you clarify the implications for people who purchase MyMoney now or in the near future? Does Ver 2.0 include the new features you described in the 2011 roadmap? Or, will these new improvements be included in future updates/upgrades and, if so, will they be offered to new customers who recently purchased this product for no cost?

NOTE: I'm one of those long-time Quicken users that finally switched to iBank last year out of disgust with Intuit and their latest product for Mac users. However, I am experiencing considerable frustration with iBank and am still hunting for a "great" personal finance program.

Hello,

We are planning on having license portability between the webapp and the desktop version; once purchased either on the web or as a desktop app you should be able interchange between the two versions

We plan on two versions to be on par in terms of functionality so at the end it will be user preference whether you access your data online through a browser or you prefer to install and use a desktop version.

Thanks,

I appreciate knowing about portability between the web app and desktop app, however my question was aimed at whether Ver 2.x includes the planned upgrades for 2011 or do you plan to release a Ver 3 later this year with upgrades you inferred earlier? AND, if you do plan to issue a new ver sometime later in 2011, roughly when and will people who buy the current version be grandfathered in? In other words, I am considering buying this app. However, I would hold off if you said that people who buy now will have to buy again to get the 2011 improvements. Could you please answer this question?

Hello,

1) There is no version 3 is planned for 2011, all planned upgrades will be gradually released in the 2.0 line as part of regular monthly updates

2) Any purchase carries 12 month worth of free upgrades; Licensing is explained in this document: http://wiki.mthbuilt.com/Licensing_and_ ... license.3F

3) You will get 2011 releases, there isn't anything special (like grandfathering etc) we plan on doing

Hope this helps,

Thanks,
