Customize Reports Select Subcategories

To further customize a report I would like to select subcategories within a category.

Example:
Category
Automobile
Subcategories
Depreciation
Gasoline
Maintenance
etc...

I want to eliminate depreciation and keep the rest.

This does not seem to be possible and the online help file seems to indicate category selection only, if this is by design then would it be possible to add this in the future?
