I knew there was another thing...

Postby Nightowl » Sat Aug 21, 2010 10:49 am

Is there a way to archive old, reconciled data, e.g. by year? I've imported all my data from MS Money going back to 1997 which could make my database big and cumbersome.

Thank you,

Pete

Hello,

There is no built-in way to archive old data other than to perform regular backups.

The data handling is quite efficient in My Money, the amount of data doesn't affect the operational speed and you always can filter out unneeded data by using "Show Unreconciled" filters.

We have use cases where there are 80k records in the database and it is still quite fast, with the hardware getting faster and memory getting cheaper the database can scale up quite well before there is a need for cleanup.

If you truly need to archive based by a year we would suggest to backup your file, rename the backup as 1997.zip for example, then remove all 1997 entries from the ongoing database,

Thanks,

Hi,

Fair enough. I'll keep things as they are, then.

Thank you,
