downloading transactions

Postby lloii » Thu Sep 04, 2008 1:53 pm

When I try to download my transactions my account information shows up on the screen. However the "Accept" button never highlights for me to select. What am I missing. Also, is there any way to download transactions for a certain time range i.e. January 1 2008 as a start date?

Thanks

You need to "Match" accounts first.

When you setup your bank connection and download the transactions for the first time the system doesn't know how is the internal account is related to the one you just downloaded. Once accounts are manually matched My Money will remember that information.

My Money will download as much data as the bank gives, typically 30 to 90 days window. To get more you would need to see if your bank has that option and most likely you will need to download it separately and then manually import it through File-Import.

After the initial download My Money will ask bank only for the new/updated transactions only to keep matched accounts in sync.

I was able to download transactions but it only did the previous two days.
When I saved a Quicken QIF file to my desktop (using chase website) I tried to open it with File - import but it came up with an unable to download quicken data and I inputed a bug #1371.

Suggestions?

Thanks

We saw #1371 and I think there were few other similar to that.

The QIF File is incorrect, it is missing a header.

Try this, in Chase there is typically Account details page, they normally have Download Activity there as well

You can select a date range, I think they limit it to 60 days or so and you also can specify download type.
Please select Microsoft Money if available, if not please select Quicken Web connect.

Please save the downloaded file locally somewhere, start up My Money and use File-Import to navigate to the this saved file.

You should see your transactions come up in a import dialog.

If you absolutely have to use the QIF File you will need to do some manual editing, add a header to it.
If it is a credit card you will need to add
!Type:CCard
if it is a checking account
!Type:Bank

those should be very first lines in the QIF file.

We suggest to try OFX/QFX imports first before trying to fix QIF.

I have just changed over to Mac and I'm really enjoying it. I do miss MS Money though; but after downloading your software I was pleasantly surprised !!

Then came the problems:
In South Africa we use the yyyy/mm/dd format.
The date downloads correctly for QFX files but the payee appears as a memo (only when selecting the transaction) I could use this method but there'll be a lot of unnecessary editing which I'd prefer to avoid (transcription errors etc)

I've also tried the QIF file download; where the payee is correctly populated but the dates are completely wrong 2008 coming up with anything from 2000 to 2020.

Please HELP......

Have you tried to change date format in Preferences/Import/dates ?

When I go to Chase my choices are QFX and QIF. I downloaded both of them. When I go to File - Import -
the only choices are OFX, QIF, and CSV. There is no option for QFX.

Suggestions?

Thanks

Simple rename QFX into OFX and rerun import as an OFX import

My Money understands both, so there shouldn't be any problems feeding QFX into My Money

If QFX is correct why don't you use it ? You always can refactor it by swapping payee and memo fields. Simply select transactions
that have wrong payee and click on Quick Edit - Swap payee and memo data.

We would also like to see some of South African qif files, would you mind opening one of your files in the text editor, copying some data and emailing to us at info at mthbbuilt.com. We don't want the whole file, just a fragment. Thanks
