Bad balances in MSMoney 2007 import

Using the 2007 MSMoney on WinXP I export a "Strict QIF" file in Win (VMWare Fusion), then copy it to my OSX desktop.

This file imports perfectly in Checkbook, Checkbook Pro, Money, Moneydance, and iBank, but produces horrible balance irregularities when imported into MyMoney.

However, I like the look and feel of MyMoney so I'm going an extra mile to see what the problem might be. I'm importing some 2500 entries from 1997 - present, using, as I said, the "strict qif" export from MSMoney 2007 (it offers only strict and loose qif exports).

It imports fine, but the numbers go haywire. It will go along fine, keeping balance, but then on some random entry it adds thousands of dollars to the balance for no apparent reason. for example, the balance previously might be 1500. a check or online debit might hit for 100. instead of new balance of 1400, the new balance is 35,500. This happens a few times. If I mess with the green checkmark by changing it to reconciled, or whatever, it tend to erase the entry.

Obviously, as a money program, I can't trust a program that doesn't get the money right, or even _might_ not get the money right.

Any ideas?

I have re-downloaded MyMoney and found same problem. I was already using build 30 anyway. I also made a smaller file to import, just 2 years or 500 entries. Same kind of problem.

It seems that MyMoney has a serious problem with imports when they contain multiple entries with the same payee and same amt. Sometimes it just dropped an entry altogether, sometime it added the amt of an entry onto another entry (while not actually showing the changed number in the Amt column).

Altogether I have to say that although I like the format, MyMoney seems well short of trustworthy for my purposes. I don't want any financial software that's in any way short of mathematically impeccable.

So it goes.

Can you try exporting into CSV from Microsoft Money and importing that ?
