Portfolio Values

Postby PeteLucas » Mon May 20, 2013 1:16 pm

The software is great. Have noticed that when you update stock prices my portfolio value does not change until the program had been closed and restarted. Is this normal??. Just a suggestion but wouldn't it be great if stock prices and portfolio values changed automatically as in MS Money without even a click or is there a tweak or enabler somewhere in the software to do this???

Hello,

My Money does not have real-time price tracking subscriptions, usually the prices are updated daily at the end of the trading day when such information is published out by stock exchange.

To have MyMoney update prices automatically you need to have the ticker resolved and subscribe to one of the pricing sources, such as Google Finance, Yahoo Finance UK, etc

Thanks

OH1 Perhaps I am being a bit dense. What does "Ticker Symbol being resolved mean and how does one subscribe to Yahoo Finance UK or Google. . and set it up in the software?? Would there be a cost?

Hello
Yes all securities are resolved. The Portfolio Manager however still does not update the value until the program is closed and reopened is this normal with resolved securities? MS Money Portfolio Manager valuation page just has a refresh button which picks up the new values auto downloaded - little disappointed at the lack of automation in the program here.

Hello,

If securities are resolved they should update automatically on startup. When you pull the menu to "Update Prices" manually does that update the pricing, do you see activity in the task bar at the bottom?

Thanks

We double checked and we found an issue that would prevent automatic price updates on startup under certain circumstances. This is most likely what is happening in your case.

This will be fixed asap and the fix will appear in 2.0.86, due out in a couple of weeks
