qif xfer glitch

Postby tonyroder » Mon Jul 27, 2009 5:20 pm

xfering a bank account from MS Money Plus Deluxe to a bank account here using either of Money's two qif options. The local register starts with the correct figure but ends with an incorrect (by approx $1k) final figure.
Before I check the 200+ transactions, is there something I am doing incorrectly?

Couple of possible things to check:

1) Account open balance - QIFs don't carry opening balance information so you may want to adjust it manually

2) Disable duplicate transaction resolution (Preferences/Import-Export/Duplicate lookup days - please set to 0)
My Money tries to weed off potentially duplicated transactions by default and this will switch it off

Thanks

So far so good... the disable duplicate worked; the end balance is still off, but only by less than ~$100.

Could it be because split transactions do not show the multiple payees and amounts?

If you have deposits from the same payee, same amount, on the same date that would be most likely cause since we mark them as duplicates.
For example ATM cash deposits on the same day would be filtered out.

I'll look for those. Do split transactions that show up as [multiple payees] without the respective payee amounts, also need to be corrected individually?

Quicken/Quickbooks/Microsoft Money split transactions are converted properly.

You may have issues with split transactions generated by some software (older versions of iBank for example, some online services)

If you want we can take a look at your file, you can pm it to us here or at info at mthbuilt.com, tell us what is the expected balance we will troubleshoot it if you can't find the problem

PM= Private Message on the forum, if you click on user name you will be taken to an information page from where you can send a PM

We would look into QIF file you are trying to import, please also tell us the beginning and ending balance on this account so we can double check the conversion math

Thanks
