Canadian Banks download information

Postby mthadm » Thu Apr 11, 2013 10:36 am

This is the explanation we have given to one of our Canadian customers:

MyMoney can automatically synchronize data with the banks that support such synchronization. Unfortunately, most Canadian banks including National Bank Of Canada, Scotia Bank (Bank of Nova Scotia), Bank of Montreal (BMO), TDCanada Trust bank and Canadian Imperial Bank don't support direct OFX connections, which MyMoney (and other financial software) requires in order to talk directly to a bank.

Having said so you still can get your transactions into MyMoney - the best way to get your data is to use a web browser to download them from your bank's web site. You can download into QIF, QFX, OFX or OFC files (aka Quicken or MS Money files), any of which will import cleanly into MyMoney.

For example, we checked with National Bank Of Canada and you can download your data in Quicken OFX format, which MyMoney understands. You will need to save it first to your desktop and then import it into MyMoney
