help with setup

Postby bessiematthews » Mon Feb 23, 2009 8:25 am

I just downloaded this program. I am coming from Microsoft Money, & have unsuccessfully tried several personal finance programs on my mac. I cannot get my accounts set up. I keep getting an error message after I have filled in all the account information for my 1st acct. the error is "database is closed". This has happened 4 times now even though I have followed the instructions! What is wrong?

Similar issues. I've downloaded a .qif file from BofA and cannot seem to get this data into the data file. I've tried everything, yet there doesn't seem to be any help manual available. I need a section which might be entited "Getting Started". How do I get started?

You need to create the database first (File-New-New File)

Once database is created you can import the file into it (File-Import-Import QIF)

OK, so I've loaded my .qdf data, but it won't let me accept it. Do to do? I'm trying to highlight it, but no luck.

Make that a .qif file. My error. Is there a way to download directly from my bank to update regularly? Or must I first download data from the bank into a file and then import it into the program?

You need to match internal accounts with the accounts you downloaded/imported

Please take a look at this page from the wiki
