Add the older currencies into the currency converter

Postby luckyme2 » Sat Sep 01, 2012 6:35 am

Hi,

Searching for a replacement of MS Money that I use for nearly 20 years, My Money is the nearly perfect twin :D
I converted my personal database from Money to My Money as described and this went smoothly.
There is however an issue : The old European currencies are not in the currency list.
This results in the import messed up as the converter doesn't know the currency and assumes it is the final one (Euro in this case)
I have no intension to start converting about 7 years of the older currencies in to the new one.
Is there a possibility to include the older currencies in the currency list ?
Here is the list with fixed conversion to Euro, eg. 1 Euro = BEF 40,3399.

1 BEF 40.3399 (Belgian francs)
1 DEM 1.95583 (Deutsche Mark)
1 EEK 15.6466 (Estonian kroon)
1 IEP 0.787564 (Irish pound)
1 GRD 340.750 (Greek drachmas)
1 ESP 166.386 (Spanish pesetas)
1 CYP 0.585274 (Cyprus pound)
1 FRF 6.55957 (French francs)
1 ITL 1936.27 (Italian lire)
1 LUF 40.3399 (Luxembourg francs)
1 MTL 0.429300 (Maltese lira)
1 NLG 2.20371 (Dutch guilders)
1 ATS 13.7603 (Austrian schillings)
1 PTE 200.482 (Portuguese escudos)
1 SIT 239.640 (Slovenian tolars)
1 SKK 30.1260 (Slovak koruna)
1 FIM 5.94573 (Finnish markkas)

Thx,

Hello,

Unfortunately this is not possible because Microsoft does not specify the currency when exporting data, so this information is completely lost when importing it into MyMoney. The only exception is the investments portion where Microsoft would put in currency sign next to the amount, for example $200. This is ambiguous, as $ is used to denote USD, old Escudos as well as a currency symbol in Chile, Malaysia and possibly other countries.

There is no good solution to it, if the data is very important to you you may want to

1) Edit old transactions manually
or
2) Put together sql script that modifies the exchange rates in the database directly

Thanks
