The error happens and I cannot submit a bug report or link online either. Program is running fine otherwise.

this is security related issue - it is hard to know exactly why, but it looks like your windows box has enhanced security applied to it and certain low level operating system functions (such as getting a list of files or a file browser) are not permitted.

Do you have access to mymoney.properties? You can change value there manually, if you can read and write from the file

Found a mymoney.properties files but have no idea what to change. It also says something about being overwritten.
Looked at the security settings for the program and changed from System to Everyone and gave Full permissions. This did not help solve the problem.
What to do next?

Please add the following line to the properties file:

AutomaticVersionCheck=N
SystemAlerts=1

This will enable only Critical alerts to go through and will shut down updates check

As a note - on Windows 7 systems mymoney.property could be located in your user AppData folder, for example

C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\.mymoney\config\mymoney.properties

it is a system folder and may not be found in regular search

Thank you for the update to block with. However, the issue of the Java error remains when I try to use the "gearwheel." I am unable to connect, even tho I have a valid established internet connection. Java OutofBoundsException------------ is the error message. Attempting to send a bug report is not possible because "a connection to MTHBuilt" cannot be made.
I followed your instructions to copy the 2 lines and placed them in both the 'roaming' mymoney config file and in the same file in Program Data.

We can put in a code fix that will not show the exception and simply do nothing when the gear button is pressed - but we can't fix the underlying problem - the security on your computer is set in such a way that it prevents local file browser access. On Windows systems there is more than one way to set this security so don't know for sure how (or why) it is set that way.

Does everything else work for you? Can you create database, enter data, backup your work?

Everything works except as noted. I have no idea what I need to change in my security settings at this point. I am the Administrator and the drive and all programs, files and drive are set with Full Control by Everyone. Could be that editing the code would be a reasonable idea. I will rarely if ever have a need to use the online features of MyMoney. Also, note that I cannot submit a Bug Report -connection cannot be established to mthbuilt.com is the message.

We will put in a fix for the security exception and will cut you a private build, so you can see if it works for you. The connection to mthbuilt.com encryption issue was fixed few releases ago, you are using an older version that why you still see it.
