Despite the fact you've not responded to my inquiry, I think I may have got to the bottom of this issue, although it's not really a satisfactory solution.

When I close MyMoney using the 'Quit MyMoney' from the 'My Money' menu, it won't backup, nor does it when I use the 'Exit' option from the 'File' menu.

It does, however, if I use the little red dot, with a small cross, at the top left hand corner of the My Money window.

This isn't the standard method of closing down software on a Mac, it just closes the active window. This is normally a Microsoft method of closing a program.

I don't know if this is design or accident, but I thought you'd like to know.

We haven't seen the final Mountain Lion yet, but there were no issues running under development previews

OK, thanks.

I'll be getting the upgrade when it comes, so I can test it here, if you want.

Erm, I'm not sure what's happened now, but the database seems to be empty!

All it contains is 4 accounts: Standard Checking, Standard Savings, Investment and Credit card Accounts, all with a zero balance. None of these are my accounts :-)

This occurred after I started to use the 'private cut' and after the Cmd+Q closed the file without saving the changes. It's been like that since.

My latest backup file (about 1Mb) is the 15th July 2012.

Thank you.

Hello,

Please search your disk for a folder named moneyDb, you may have multiple entries on your system

Once found please use File-Open-Open file to load your database into MyMoney

If you are not finding moneyDb please take a look at spotlight preferences (if you are on a mac) to make sure that you are searching through all hard disks and through folder names as well, sometime spotlight would search the files and their content but would leave folder names out for some reason

Thanks

Hi,

I'm using a fairly old version of MyMoney, on Mac Snow Leopard. I've foolishly not backed up for a month or more.

When I first started using MyMoney in 2009 I had a few problems and you guys asked me to create a test file to do some tests, which I haven't touched for years now. You managed to resolve the problems for me but I haven't upgraded in the last 2 years or so as I've been worried that the problems might return. "About" says I have a "None-expiring licence" which I think you gave me after the research and tests I did for you.

I used my standard MyMoney file earlier this evening and added a couple of transactions, then closed it as normal. I've just opened it again but it's loaded the test from years back for some bizarre reason. The test file only has made-up accounts and transactions so it looks like I've lost 3 years of records.

Is there any way of retrieving previous saves or is all the info wiped each time?

Many thanks
