Platform SE doesn't respond; loos of data

MyMoney (Investments-version) operaties on Windows 7.
I have two kind of problems managing the data: investment/portfolio entries get lost; sometimes while working on another one; sometimes after closing and opening up. The program gets stuck and gives the message: Java (TM) Platform SE doesn't respond.
The only way to get out is to use Windows 7 to stop the software.
Do these problems have anything to do with the phenomenon of seeing to numbers of Mbytes, one counting, one fixed on the righthandcorner of the screen?

Hello,

Do you use bundled version of MyMoney, i.e. where Java is bundled with the software and everything gets installed together or you install Java separately yourself?

Thanks,

I haven't installed Java myself so I suppose it was the bundled version.

Are there any errors or exceptions shown when the application goes down?

Also, please enable automatic backup through Preferences so your data is backed up every time you close the app

Thanks,

There are no specific errors when the program stops. I downloaded a 64-bits version of Java (1.6.26 version). And applied your advice on backup. What do all the icons and numbers in the right-hand bottom corner of the screen mean?

memory and resource consumption - the line should run roughly in the middle with no spikes
