Reconciling Accounts (Mac) - Some issues

Postby Zoolook » Sun Jun 01, 2008 10:11 am

I am having trouble getting this to work.

First of all, I have no idea where it is getting the 'beginning balance'. The balance does not exist anywhere in the account. If this is the 1st reconciliation I have done, it should be either zero or the account opening balance?

Secondly, when I have completed all the boxes on the 1st screen, the "Next" box doesn't become highlighted, so I cannot click on it. Pressing enter does being up the next screen.

On the next screen, I have to click each item individually to reconcile them. Ideally, I'd have been given a date range option at the start of the reconciliation process, and if the balances added up, all items would be selected for auto reconcile. As it stands, to reconcile my 1st 2 years input is going to take me hours.

We will look into at why Next is disabled, generally you need starting balance and ending balance to go forward, everything else is optional.

Multiple reconcile I would suggest the following, if you are reconciling after a large import and relatively sure that you are done with the balances, simple select transactions in the register and mark them as reconciled without going through step-by steap reconciliation dialog. Step-by-step really is designed for situation when you have your bank statement in hand and doing line by line comparison between what you have in My Money and said statement.

OK, thanks for the tip, I'll try that.

On the reconcile date issue, I am not given an option to put in a start date, only a statement date.

I am having the same problem.
I am a recent new user and have setup my accounts with an opening balance which matches the ending balance of the last statement. Now I have entered all new transactions and when I receive a new statement any try to reconcile I enter the statement date and ending balance but the 'Next' button remains greyed out.

Having trouble with hosting the screenshots at the moment. Will try to look at this again later next week (off on business travel now until Wednesday) and get some screenshots for you
First I tried just entering the date and amount currently owe, then I tried filling out the interest / charges sections also but it made no change to the next button.
I have also tried individually setting the transactions to reconciled and then trying again, but with no luck.

We just uploaded a private build for someone that had similar issues, also from UK.

If you would like we can give you the instructions on how to download it and test it, we believe it does address the reconcile button being unavailable but obviously we need more confirmations before we release it to public

Thanks
